On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, chaired a meeting with representatives from Daewoo Engineering & Construction and the Al-Faw Grand Port Authority to discuss the commencement of works related to the construction of permanent administrative buildings within the Al-Faw Grand Port project. The meeting was also attended by representatives from Basra Mass Company, a leading provider of marine logistics services.
The Director General stated that “the discussions focused on the practical aspects of implementation and the timeline for initiating the works, in addition to the distribution of responsibilities among the executing parties, in order to accelerate progress and prepare the administrative infrastructure of the port.”
He added that “the project constitutes a fundamental step in supporting the operational framework of the port, as part of a broader plan to enhance the readiness of Al-Faw Grand Port as a regional logistics hub along international trade routes, once operations commence.”
The administrative buildings project is considered one of the vital components of Al-Faw Grand Port, through which the Iraqi government seeks to diversify the country’s economic resources and strengthen its position in regional and international trade.
