The construction project of the Port Berths
The construction of five berths at Al Faw Grand Port is among the most vital projects aimed at enhancing Iraq's capacity to accommodate large draft vessels, thereby stimulating commercial activity and boosting the national economy.
The project spans an area of 167,000 square meters and includes deep excavation work reaching -22.6 meters below sea level.
Moreover, it comprises 1,736 tubular piles and 2,600,000 cubic meters of dredging.
The project also required the use of 1,500,000 tons of rocks, 2,000,000 cubic meters of sand and gravel materials, and 130,000 cubic meters of concrete.
Additionally, 880 bridges, 117 fenders, and 144 mooring posts have been installed, enhancing the port’s capacity to accommodate giant ships and reinforcing Iraq's role in international maritime trade.
