The Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, has issued a formal letter of appreciation accompanied by a financial reward to Dr. Engineer Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq , as well as to the staff of the Al Faw Grand Port Authority. This gesture came after his recent field visit to review progress on the project and its strategic annexes, in addition to attending the handover ceremony of the 63-kilometer connecting road, which constitutes the first segment of the International Development Road.
Dr. Al-Fartousi stated: “this initiative represents recognition of the efforts exerted in executing the engineering and construction works within the project, and of the tangible progress achieved on the ground, in full compliance with the technical specifications and designated timelines.”
He added: “This appreciation serves as a strong incentive to continue working at an accelerated pace,” affirming that “the teams of the Al Faw Grand Port Authority remain committed to implementing the project’s components in accordance with approved technical standards, with direct support from the Prime Minister and the government.”
Al Faw Grand Port is regarded as one of the most significant strategic maritime projects pursued by the government over the past three decades. It represents a qualitative leap in Iraq’s transport and logistics system, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s position on the regional and international trade map, while also contributing to economic revitalization and the creation of employment opportunities.
