On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Prime Minister Eng. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, accompanied by Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Firdousi, Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, conducted a field tour of three of the most significant projects at Al Faw Grand Port: the five berths, the navigation channel, and the container handling yard.

During the tour, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress of works and the achieved completion rates, praising the dedication of the working teams and emphasizing the importance of expediting the completion of these projects, given their strategic value to the national economy.

The navigation channel has reached full completion (100%), with a final depth of 19.8 meters, an extension of 23 kilometers, and a width of 200 meters, forming a key maritime axis in Khor Abdullah.

The container handling yard has achieved a completion rate of 96.5%, extending 2,000 meters in length and 600 meters in width, with an annual handling capacity of up to 3 million containers. Meanwhile, the five berths have been fully completed (100%), with a total length of 1,750.
