On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, convened an on-site meeting within the immersed tunnel project—one of the key components of Al Faw Grand Port. The meeting was attended by department heads and executive officials to discuss the next phase of the project and its management mechanisms.

The Director General stated that “the meeting was held to emphasize the importance of coordination between engineering and technical teams and to ensure the project’s readiness for its final phase,” stressing that “effective management and continuous field follow-up are essential to the success of major projects at Al Faw Grand Port.”

He added that “the meeting served as a platform to review work progress, set priorities, and outline future strategies to ensure adherence to planned timelines and the application of the highest standards of quality and safety.”

He noted that “the discussion focused on the significance of the upcoming operational plans, which will contribute to enhancing maritime transport efficiency and facilitating the movement of goods between Iraqi ports and regional highway networks.”
