During the Iraqi Business Summit held at the Al-Faw Grand Port, His Excellency Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, Iraq’s Minister of Transport, affirmed that the port project constitutes the core of the strategic Development Road and serves as a key driver for economic diversification and reducing reliance on oil revenues.
He noted that “the port opens wide avenues for investment across multiple sectors and is expected to generate over 100,000 direct jobs and approximately 1.6 million indirect employment opportunities.” He further explained that “design completion rates have reached 83% for the railway line and 68% for the expressway.”
The Minister emphasized the government’s firm commitment to transitioning from planning to full-scale implementation, with a focus on governance, the establishment of industrial cities, and the development of major investment zones.
