A diplomatic delegation from France, comprising Mr. Benoît Combourieu, First Deputy Ambassador of France to Iraq, Ms. Tiphaine Lecordier, Second Deputy Ambassador, and Mr. Duncan Toulon, Deputy Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy, visited Al Faw Grand Port to assess the progress of several strategic projects within the port.
During the visit, the delegation conducted an on-site tour, inspecting the Five Berths Project and addressing their inquiries about the ongoing projects and feasibility studies.
Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the company, emphasized the significance of this visit, commending the bilateral relations between Iraq and France, and underscoring the need to enhance cooperation in trade and development sectors.
He highlighted that “Al Faw Grand Port and Development Road projects are vital for boosting trade exchange between the two countries if French companies invest in them.”
He confirmed that “this visit aims to strengthen the joint cooperation between Iraq and France,” noting that “the projects at Al Faw Grand Port represent a significant step towards advancing maritime trade and achieving economic growth in the region.”
Engineer Hanadi Abdul Razzaq, Head of Al Faw Grand Port Authority, provided a detailed explanation of the current projects and the port’s operational mechanism, emphasizing the importance of these projects in developing the port’s infrastructure and its pivotal role in boosting the Iraqi economy.
At the conclusion of the visit, the French delegation expressed their admiration for the developments at Al Faw Grand Port, affirming their readiness to support Iraq in developing infrastructure and enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
