Students from the College of Engineering at Basra University conducted a field visit to Al-Faw Grand Port project to closely observe the scale of executed works and the achieved completion rates of the project.

This visit aims to enhance the students’ practical understanding of executing major engineering projects and applying modern technologies in this field.

The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, stated, “Today, Thursday, the site of Al-Faw Grand Port project witnessed a field visit by students from the College of Engineering at Basra University. The aim of this visit was to observe the advanced construction and development operations in the project.”

He added, “The project is always open to all community activities and students, as well as government and non-government entities. We believe these visits contribute to building a bridge of knowledge between academic reality and practical applications in major engineering projects.”

Al-Fartousi continued, “The visit provides students with an opportunity to observe the methods of project execution, which utilize the latest global technologies in port construction.”

For its part, Al-Faw Grand Port Authority presented a comprehensive briefing to the visiting students, covering the nature of the projects, their implementation methods, and the completion percentages achieved so far. Additionally, the students were taken on a tour inside several port projects to closely observe the work stages.

At the end of the visit, the students from the College of Engineering at Basra University expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Iraqi Ports Authority and Al-Faw Grand Port Authority for their hospitality and organization. They also expressed their admiration for the completed works at the port, emphasizing the importance of this visit in enhancing their practical knowledge and broadening their horizons in the field of civil engineering.
