Dr. Engineer Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, announced today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, that the completion rates in the Container Handling Yard project, one of the five infrastructure projects at Al-Faw Grand Port, have reached 86%.
He stated that “the completion rates in the Container Handling Yard project, one of the five infrastructure projects at Al-Faw Grand Port , have reached 86%.”
He continued, “The yard measures 2,000 meters in length and 600 meters in width, within the first phase of the project,” noting that “the depth of the buried and compacted water area is 7 meters.”
He added, “The yard’s capacity is 3.5 million containers annually,” pointing out that “the yard is located in the port basin behind the five berths, and is the largest container handling yard in Iraqi ports.”
This project is part of the infrastructure development plan for Iraqi ports, which will enhance Iraq’s capabilities in maritime transport and international trade.
